The Wally Head is a Home Run

Wally Head Red Sox sticker

As I write this, the Boston Red Sox need one win in their final three games to make the playoffs. I’ve un-crossed my fingers long enough to write this post.

My nine-year old son is crazy about baseball, both playing and cheering for the Sox. He was shooting Nerf hoops in his room the other night listening to “Love That Dirty Water” by The Standells on repeat.

It was love-at-first sight when we saw the Wally Head on opening day. I think Wilyer Abreau was the first to wear it: a body-less version of the green monster mascot that players place over their heads after hitting a home run. I couldn’t believe it.

I started seeing fan-made versions of the Wally Head in the stands at Fenway Park. There was one in Toronto the other night for cry-eye. I’ve been doodling it in my sketchbook more and more, I figured I had to make a sticker out of it.

Is this copyright infringement? I don’t think so, but if you’re with the Red Sox and disagree, please reach out to me.

$1 from every sticker sold, both retail and wholesale, will be donated to Community Servings in memory of my uncle Billy O’Toole.

Community Servings has provided more than 13 million medically tailored meals to recipients across Massachusetts living with chronic illnesses such as HIV, cancer, diabetes, and kidney disease.

Let’s hope there are many more Wally Head sightings in the Red Sox dugout this fall and beyond, “cuz it’s root rot root for the Red Sox, if they don’t win it’s a shame, for it’s ONE, TWO, THREE strikes you’re out at the old ball gaaaaame.

I sing that last part in my Edith Bunker voice, people love it.
